My First Week

This week was the first amazing week in science!! We did a rainbow lab, played with liquid nitrogen and made "dippin dots". To get us really hyped about science/chemistry, we played with liquid nitrogen. We put chips, popcorn and melted ice cream into the liquid nitrogen. To make dippin dots , we put drops of melted ice cream into the liquid and it made it freeze really quickly. It made little dippin dots that we could eat. Before any of that, Mrs. G taped a paint roller on a leaf blower and put a toilet paper roll on the paint roller. When she turned the leaf blower on, because of lift, it blew off the roll.

After that, she put water in a bucket, and swung it on a string over her head. Do you think it came out of the bucket? Well, if you guessed no, then you are correct. The next day was filled with organizing our binders. We set up our binders and our book accounts. This day was kind of boring. The next day we started on our rainbow lab.

In the rainbow lab we mixed different colors of water and if we did it correctly we would have all the colors in the rainbow. This lab was used to show us to be careful when working with liquids because they could be harmful chemicals. On Friday, we finished our lab and started to work on our blogs as usual. The school also attended bowling at Cardinal Lanes, but I didn't attend because I am just getting over a broken arm and the doctor told me not to lift anything heavy for a few weeks. Looks like they had fun!

This week I learned how to complete a lab properly and that it is very important to be careful when dealing with chemicals that can be potentially harmful. I think I can improve on checking Mrs. G's tweets because I don't want to miss any tweets for the week. Overall, I think this week has been a great first week in science!
